Braca VII
Tear-drop Model with Powerful Catch
Brača VII is designed with a more extreme 'tear-drop' shape, which facilitates a very powerful catch. This design maximizes the working blade area when it is only partially submerged in the water, especially at the beginning and end of the stroke cycle. Due to its special shape, this blade feels bigger than a normal tear-drop blade with the same area size, such as the Braca I & IV shape. Braca VII paddles are typically used for marathon and sprint, depending on the paddler's size. Braca VI paddles, a larger version of the same extreme teardrop as the VII, are more typically sprint paddles due to their large blade size. (VI paddles are bigger than VII paddles.)
This blade has become increasingly popular in recent years due to Danuta Kozak (HUN) winning two Olympic gold medals in London and three gold medals in Rio using a Brača VII 745 paddle.
